I have named this post aptly that for it has been a long journey - Arlee and I have been together for 9 years and it is definitely a dream come true for us to finally tie the knot next week on 11.11.11. Thank heavens for our wedding planner tita Rita Neri, putting together this affair has been nothing but smooth and stress-free.

Just thought we'd share with you our prenuptial photos taken by Paelo Pedrajas and styled by our good friend Patrick Galang. Shot in Camp John Hay, Baguio City.

We have exactly 9 days to go before our big day. Still can't believe it's finally happening. May everyone's November be as sweet and dreamy as ours. :)

Alexander McQueen is gone. What a tragic news to wake up to on a Friday morning. I went through fashion school looking up to him, being inspired by him. His pieces are always unconventional, his shows theatrical and delightfully shocking. There will never be another designer as brilliant as him. Not in this lifetime. Not in a million years. I can't even imagine the fashion world without him even at this point. I've always dreamed how I would approach him in case I bump into him in London if I go this year (God willing). Now I'll never know. Nevertheless, he has touched my life through his work and I am deeply saddened by his passing.

Spontaneous Tagaytay

I'm lucky to have barkadas who are as spontaneous as I am. One bulalo craving and --poof!--Tagaytay here we come!

And wherelse to go but Leslie's for that craving! (With 2 of my ultimate barkadas since I was like 10 years old: Lottie and May.)

Wow, I don't think they've ever cleaned their chandeliers since they opened a bazillion years ago.

Of course I can't live without dessert...

Isn't that YUMMMM?! My client Chesca Reyes introduced me to Starbucks' cinnamon swirl a couple of years back and I got so hooked!

OK, this dude is alright but a clown freaks me out (with May, my sista responsible for my cinnamon swirl relapse!)

Then a few nights ago after meeting up with the designer sissies at Mr. Jones, we decided to drive up to Tagaytay for some cold air. LMAO!

2ne1's leader (and my personal favorite member) CL has such a unique swagga, I'd do anything for her to wear any of my pieces.

In the Philippines where everyone is aiming for the mayaman look, an outfit as gutsy as this can only be seen on Sex Bomb and Wowowee dancers.

8 AM : Woke up earlier than usual today. (I'm an 11-hour girl, if I could sleep for a living I would and I'd be rich for it!)

9 AM : Left the house, ran to the shop to get into my tight rust dress - luckily it still fits despite yesterday's binging! - and checked on my prom darlings' dresses (all due for fitting today).

10 AM : Call time for the US Girls taping at Ecomoda in ABS-CBN's ELJ Bldg. I got there at 10 AM sharp. Good thing my shop is pretty near. And thank heavens Arlee drove me today.

10:30 AM : Hair and makeup. SO I can look like a TV-worthy homosapien.

Now onto the photos:

...And Iya's animal print heels! Ran to Topshop GB3 right after the shoot but they didn't have it in my size anymore. :-( These girls seriously have style, no wonder they're fashion TV show hosts.

On another note, they actually made me model a dress for the damn cameras. I realized I was asked to guest under false pretenses. I seriously hate that. But because I am a professional I had to do it anyway.

I was laughing most of the time. Couldn't believe what I got myself into. I'm a designer for crying out loud. I did it all for the love of Martin Bautista (whose dress they chose for me to strut in).

And because I didn't get to eat properly all day, I decided to take my man to Mr. Jones in Greenbelt 5 for some heavy chow before catching a flick.

The paperbacks we read while waiting for our grub. :)

MY honey chicken & biscuit entree was alright, Arlee was disappointed because the first 3 dishes he ordered weren't available and it took them 40 minutes to serve the food. Hmmm...

Anyway I am digging their vintage-inspired wallpaper in the washroom:

Saw Legion afterwards and people, I advise you to just wait for it on DVD or HBO. Not worth the Php190 we paid for in Greenbelt.

Now I shall retire for the night and remove all the gunk on my face. Goodnight folks!

Pampanga Love

Arlee and I took his cousin kuya Alvin to Pampanga yesterday. Didn't mind the drive at all because there's something about the rice fields and the green scenery along NLEX that relaxes me. Moreover, the road is so much smoother than SLEX so I can go much much faster!

Of course what is a trip without binging? Kuya Alvin started craving for Chowking - like most Fil-Ams do - I still wonder what they see in that place. It's all false advertisement the moment you step inside (not to mention their billboards)...

My nachos vanished! :D

Decided to drop by Fully Booked in SM Clark afterwards to check if they have 2010 Planners in stock and look for any interesting new reads... and to get frozen yogurts next door at White Hat. :)

Before going home, kuya Alvin treated us to authentic Korean cuisine.

Of course there is zilch ambiance factor but the food was delish!

I got home at 10 PM. Can't hardly breathe! Shooting with US Girls tomorrow morning and now I realize it was a bad bad idea to binge the day before a TV shoot (where one virtually gains 10 lbs.)! I hope I still fit into my tight dress come morning, wish me luck!

The Past 10 Days...

...Were spent celebrating life, love and friendship. My hibernation was thrown out of the window. Heck, Arlee's back from Florida and we only have so much time so here goes...

01/8/10 - Encore (where we felt older than water with all them kiddos dancing in their Topshop/Mango/Zara frocks) and Fiamma (where we finally felt at home with familiar fashion friendly faces and people from the same age bracket).

It was the annual Christmas/New Year gathering with the sissies last night. This year the venue was at Martin B.'s lovely studio--a space shared with the stylish and gorgeous Pam Q.--and beautiful their office definitely was!

I am probably still burping from all the good food I had (on top of all the equally good food I gorged on today) and still hung over from all the fun, laughter, wish portion, silly dancing and of course, Patrick and Regine's mowdel showdown. LMAO! :D But then again, what's a sissy gathering without the catwalk showdowns and silly dancing?!! Veejay you shouldn't have left early, now Patrick won by default!

Speaking of the showdown, Patrick begged not to post the photos... so sis, we now have reason to blackmail you! BE GOOD TO US! :P

Call me mean but I find it rather annoying when I keep bumping into people with misconceptions about the fashion industry. So to enlighten the clueless folks, I've compiled a list of frequent misconceptions and commonly asked questions.

1. Dressing Up Artistas - Unbeknownst to many, these glamorous femmes don't usually pay for the clothes they wear on TV, events, award shows, concerts, etc. The stylist (whether their personal or the designated fashion stylist for the said event)-- or in some cases, the road manager does the job-- borrows or pulls out ready-made clothes or samples from designers. Sometimes they have a budget to rent out these pieces, often times they're pulled out for free with the promise of an "on-cam thank you" or a special shoutout after the segment. I can count with my one hand the artistas who actually orders clothes for them to wear on TV or any occasion. One of them is Kris Aquino, a most sought-after client for most designers in the country, because once she loves you the orders just keep coming and she pays well. And so when the clothes aren't sponsored, there is no need to thank the designer. So please quit asking me if my name will be heard on SNN. Kris pays whenever she orders. Which brings me to the next question...

2. Why Not Give Free Clothes To Be Greeted - I'm a businesswoman first, a designer second. I'm also not a fame whore. I'd rather earn money than hear my name on TV, thank you. :)

3. Artistas Rule The World - NOT! The real fashion makers-or-breakers are stylists, editors and creative directors. Showbiz-wise, the designers only really care about the A-list (whom the moneyed parties listen to a.k.a. our ideal client).

4. Ateliers Need Window Display - No, not really. In Paris and New York, ateliers are tucked away and unbeknownst to many unless you have an appointment or are a fashion insider. Ones who also sell ready-made pieces in their atelier/shop SHOULD have a window display but other than that, I don't see it as a prerequisite. I for one like my privacy and prefer only to entertain clients who have an appointment.

5. WHY NOT JOIN PROJECT RUNWAY - Because not every young designer wants or needs to. Fame is not everything darlings. Just because you're on TV doesn't necessarily make you an overnight sensation. If it did then EVERYONE would be in PRP. If you are already in business, sometimes it's better to just concentrate on your orders and current clients instead of going on a 2-month hiatus. But that's just my opinion.

Men With Style

Whenever someone asks "What do you first notice in a guy?", I answer, "Their shoes." and I usually get a weirded out frown. Only my fasyon and gay friends will understand this bit I guess. A guy's shoes says a lot about their personality, taste and overall style. So if I don't like what I see south of a hot guy's ankle then he ain't so hot to me anymore. Unless your name is Zac Efron or Chace Crawford that is. Ha! But then again imagine someone that handsome wearing dirty lace-up bulldogs. Aaaaccccckkkk! What a terrible thought.

Very few guys are comfortable enough to experiment with looks, let alone have the talent for layering and coming out polished and put-together. Most men are divided into 2 categories: The Boy-Next-Door (sneakers + jeans + Cotton shirt/Polo) and The Smarts (well-tailored suits and jackets + designer crisp shirts and expensive leather goods). Those who run in the middle of the fence are very hard to spot these days. Just like women, mixing the highs and lows is key. Hard to explain so check out my list of MEN WITH STYLE to know what I mean!

Eric delos Santos - one who always collaborates with menswear designer friends for experimental pieces he can match with his cool vintage finds and fancy sneaks. Even his leather shoes usually has a sporty, quirky twist to it. Love that.

Andre Chang - His blog is called "Style Maven". Nuff said.

Jerome Lorico - Whenever I see him, I feel like he should be walking on the crowded streets of Tokyo instead of Makati. And he makes inexpensive pieces look designer. Street style sweet!

Sidney Yap - The statement jacket is always his key piece. And boy, does he have a LOT of them!

Robby Carmona - There has never been an instance when I saw him and didn't say (out loud or in my head) "Oooohhh me likey!!"

And because I am currently addicted to Korean TV, I might as well add a couple of Korean stars on my list:

Hot Korean boy group Big Bang's TOP has the best tailored suits with quirky prints and details. Even cheap hoodies look fierce on him. Couldn't find any paparazzi shots but watch Big Bang TV Episode 7 (on Youtube dearies) to see for yourself! (Watch out for his lip-printed suit, D-I-E!!! How fabulous can a straight guy be?)

World renowned Korean superstar Rain. Even boot legs look sexy on him. The room probably goes below zero every time he enters. LMAO.

I also can't help but notice how beautiful the guy stars are from Korea. They're handsome but on the pretty side although not in a gay kind of way. Must be the fact that really stylish men are comfortable enough with their own bodies and sexuality that not even pieces bordering on the female side can stop them.

You think Piolo can pull that off too? :)

This season I am on a Fashion Week hiatus - too much work to do in the shop, things I cannot possibly postpone - "overloaded" does not even suffice. Abroad, not participating in Fashion Week means losing buyers, in Manila there are no buyers except for your usual clients who come to watch your show. Hence, it is imperative that a young designer such as myself make these made-to-order clients the top priority. Business first, ALWAYS. There is the Holiday 2011 show anyway.

I attended some of the shows and of course, went to support my sistas! These are sooo on my "To-Order-List":

September 26, Saturday -- I wake up at 11 AM to the sound of my ringing cellie. It's mother.

"Wake up, wake up! Your dad and I are in church and we sent the driver out. The maid says our house is flooded! HELP HER!" She's clearly panicking. Thinking it was a mere exaggeration, I groggily got up and walked towards the dining room. As I stepped down from the hallway and felt cold water, I realize she wasn't kidding. And the maid was already busily mopping the floor. I called Arlee right away to come over, my mom's panic attack rubbed off on me. Last time the house got flooded was back in 1994. I realize Ondoy can't be just another typhoon. I turn on the TV a few hours later and realize I was right.

The garage. Cars aren't home. My parents and the driver had to leave the cars on Central Avenue because it was impassable that afternoon. As of the moment, we have a CRV there awaiting a tow truck. Tried to get through the flood that day and it broke down on me!

We're lucky the water inside the house only reached up to the ankle. Outside it was knee high but I knew it must be worse in other areas. Specifically my tita's and cousin's homes in Kingsville Subdivision in Antipolo. We were so worried about them for 2 days. Today my cousin ate Ayee finally got to see them. Thank heavens they're safe. Material things can be gained back, but health is the real wealth so to speak. I'm glad all my friends and family are safe. But I am also saddened by their losses. :-(

I have been seeing heart breaking photographs and videos lately. Children who drowned, dead pets covered in mud, smashed cars and houses. I dare not post them here. My old highschool was flooded too. There are people who took shelter under their ceiling or on their roof while waiting to be rescued for hours and even days! I've been hearing stories of loss and miracles, all very overwhelming. Especially the way people are helping each other any way they can right now.

After I publish this post I shall go back to segregating my things for relief goods. It's the least I can do.

Goodbye Is The Hardest Word

That's me zipping up my sister's wedding gown four years ago. As I type this, she's probably flying above the vicinity of LAX by now. About to land to a new life, a new home with her husband. I really am happy that they're finally together. But it is hard to let go of the life we shared together as roommates in the 26 years of my existence (we supposedly separated bedrooms a few years ago but I still sleep in hers, LOL!) and being sisters-in-crime. Though we grew up as frenemies as children -- and still the occasional bickering from time to time as adults -- she has been my good good friend through thick and thin. My loyal fan who never ceases to text and update friends (much to my embarrassment) with events I'm doing or new publicity features. When bitches got in my way, she fought them with me. She was one of my kaladkarins (in layman's term, someone you can tag along whenever, wherever). One who listened to my whining and bore with my bitchy ways. Who is going to reciprocate when I roll my eyes at the "circus side" family gathering now? Or talk to me late at night when the lights are off but my mind still won't shut up? Or shop with me during family trips when le parents just wanna kick back and not walk for hours?

I swore not to cry because I wanted a happy new beginning for her. But as I hugged her for the last time at the airport the tears wouldn't stop from falling. Atchi was the ultimate big sister, the ideal eldest daughter. To say she's responsible and kindhearted is an understatement, thus the endless string of godchildren. That's how I know she'll make an incredible mother. Knowing she's on the baby track gives me another reason to be happy for her. And knowing they are finally together and starting a new life as husband and wife (sans Skype) stops the tears from falling any further. My eyes are puffy as it is anyway.

I'm supposed to clear her room today and move into it. But I'm not ready to do that just yet. Memories flood like crazy and sleeping alone in that big bed is just too much to handle.

In two weeks my boyfriend Arlee goes back home to Florida as well. And my other best mate Leah had left for California a few months ago too. Everyone is leaving. Maybe I should make a career out of crying. What is it with US that makes people leave? Everyone seems to be gearing up for a new life ahead. And even though I am left behind, it also leads a new life for me. A new life without my backbone, quieter nights without loud laughter and DVD marathons alone. I'm embracing this new change although it comes with great difficulty. Goodbye definitely is the hardest word.

Maricar Reyes in Czarina Villa

When Alyanna asked if I would be interested in dressing up one of her Star Magic stars, I instantly said "Yes, if she were Maricar Reyes or Shaina Magdayao." And so I was ecstatic to find out that Maricar said yes to me making her gown for the Ball. Four sleepless nights and a few bottles of Redbull later, this was the aftermath.

So no, it wasn't by Francis Libiran as printed on the Inquirer today. How sad for me. :-(

Went gaga over la Lady Gaga! I couldn't get enough and my Gaga gang was absolutely disappointed when we realized there wasn't going to be any encore. What the F is that anyway?! Is it because the producers didn't have budget for another 15 minutes of Miss Gaga?

We were originally opting for the front row but they were sold out the next day. We partied like rockstahs in our VIP Patron seats nonetheless and ended up sweating all the booze we loaded up pre-show. LMAO.

It's out! J&J partnered with Preview magazine to launch their new skin care line in their August issue and a launch party held last night at White Space. Stylebible.ph co-sponsored the event.

It was girl power galore as Preview and Johnson & Johnson picked out 5 female designer labels to launch their new skin care line. The theme was beautiful soft skin. Motif for the whole event was white, nude and blush pink.

A couple of weeks back I went to the NBC Tent to support my sissies as they showcase their pieces at Metrowear's second series presenting the members of FDCP and YDG. The show was jaw-dropping, because 1) It was directed by no less than THE Robby Carmona and 2) The creations were love, love, love!

Metro definitely knows how to throw an event. Food was superb too (loved the chicken cube thingies and the salad!).

Change is GOOD

Change is the only constant thing in this universe. It rings true with fashion, so does with life. I used to think I would stay in one nook forever. That some things are unchangeable no matter how tough things should get, that certain relationships are unshakable. Well I thought wrong. As it turns out, decades of friendship could end with a single false accusation... followed up by a series of lies and involvement of supposed innocent parties. A strong connection you thought was there can be broken by a drunken call or a wrong line that accidentally rolled out of your tongue. It has always been as simple as that but I was too blinded all these time. I never really welcomed a change this big until it has become the only solution to the equation. Because no matter how hard you try to fix it, change the pattern or move figures around in the hopes of getting a new answer, if it isn't working for you then it probably never will. Pushing it will only hurt you more.

When one gets too confident about relationships, the truth hurts tenfold. The ones you thought were pillars are actually just wooden dividers -- cannot support a heavy fall and only serve as a mere decoration. You can only imagine the huge pang of pain and disappointment as you crash down on the floor, realizing there's really nothing to support you. Maybe you shouldn't have expected anything to begin with. The dividers aren't designed to withstand such things after all. If anything, they're two-faced house trimmings that run in the middle of a room and pretend to support both sides.

The answer to this is simple, stay in the lives of the people who want you to stay there and leave those who are pushing you away. Change circles, change habits. A paradigm shift could be good. Let go of relationships that will never be and relationships that could have been. And just cherish the ones that are there--the people who feel lucky enough to have you in their life.

I've decided to stay on the bright side. Changing priorities and switching circles as well as making all my Saturday nights devoted to church from now on. It's a big change but it's nothing I can't handle. The fall hasn't broken me after all. :)

Not quite over it yet and this is a long overdue post. I wasn't exactly a huge fan but his tragic death at the age of 50 shook me to the very core. I grew up listening to his music (I am an 80s child after all)--my favorites being Rock With You, Don't Stop Til You Get Enough, Rock With You, Human Nature and Why (a track that featured his 3 nephews the 3T, one of which was my ultimate highschool freshman year crush Tai!)

Michael Jackson was an icon and an inspiration in both the entertainment and the fashion industry. One who has touched many lives and helped so many people. I have always admired his style. No matter what people said he always managed to get away with it fashion-wise. I love his blings, all the gold appliques, the gloves. I am especially digging his statement jackets. What a collection!

I do not think the world will ever really move on from this great loss (it's much like Princess Diana in 1997 actually). There will never be another Michael Jackson in this lifetime. And his legacy will live on... he epitomized pop music after all and got us wearing blinged gloves.

Having read a couple of not-so-good reviews on my collection before has made me think that maybe it really was a disaster because noone seems to get my point. I wasn't going for Marc Jacobs, I wasn't trying to be 2007. I didn't want to design something that was already very 2009 either. I just wanted it to be young, fun and frilly because I am that kindda girl. And Daryl totally gets it. Needless to say, this article made my day, no, actually my month. :)

All In A Day's Work

I am finally home after a 6-hour shoot at Jeanne Young's studio. She is brilliant as always and teaming up (yet again) with the equally brilliant Vince Uy made the shoot even more fabulous.

Spent the whole afternoon Twittering and Facebook-ing in between chats with my bratmate Valerie (a.k.a. Choc) Religioso-Dayrit and her lovely sister Yvette Ilagan. The highlight of the shoot however was when a tweaked version of my 2004 "It" dress stared me in the face. Imagine my shock. Even Choc thought it was mine and I had just worn the dress to an event a few weeks ago. Oh well.

Preview's BARBIE Ball

It was Preview Magazine's Best Dressed Ball once again last June 26, Friday at White Space in Makati and this time people did their own versions of Mantel's Barbie and Ken. Big waves and bold colored tutus were everywhere--Barbie's signature style--and the men came in suits of different cuts and colors as Ken would have donned had he attended the event. I came in my vintage silver frock from my pre-graduation fashion show circa 2004 (yes, that piece I would never sell, not even to save my life!)

Each Preview Ball is jam packed with all the big names present in the industry. Food amazing, drinks overflowing. The Best Dressed chicas were all so deserving in my humble opinion. Congrats to my friend Divine Lee for making it to this year's list! Love the Lanvins too!

...Was the MEGA shoot for their 25 Young Designers feature and I was lucky enough to be part of it. I was 45 minutes late for call time--blame it on heavy traffic and nonstop drizzling. Also almost went to EDSA Shangri La where I first thought was the venue of the shoot. LMAO!!! Thank heavens for My Globe internet, I got to check my email again on the way there and realized Patrick's email said HERITAGE hotel. Had a blonde moment for a minute there!

It's very rare for me to want to savor my makeup after a shoot and or event. Tonight is one of those nights. Jigs Mayuga is amazing!!! :) Thanks Jigs!

A-Day!

Time sure flies by. We've been through ups and downs and at times we didn't think we could make it but we got through it all. There is only one person in this world who can love me as much and I am undoubtedly the luckiest woman on earth to have found a love like he has to offer...

Celebrated our 7th year anniversary yesterday at my own version of Disneyland: the Spiral! Because we loathe the Friday night crowd, we opted for a lunch date. Felt like such a carnivore after I downed all that meat!

Decided to take a break today and hang with le boyfriend after picking up some pieces at the subcon. Went back home to Quezon City to grab a few things before we headed to Megamall (where Push is still showing). And this is what I had to drive through:

It took us a freaking hour and twenty minutes before we got there! There wasn't even any real reason for this traffic jam, I thought someone died or something.

But I instantly cheered up when I arrived at Bigby's!

I love their fixtures. But above all I love their strawberry shortcake.

Also had a T-bone steak (which I finished in about 8 minutes because I was already ravenous!). I am such a fan of Bigby's, thank heavens they have a branch in Manila now!

Lastly, sorry I take crappy photos--not much of a photographer--and everything was taken with an E71. LOL. :-)

I love wearing heels but I am aware that they are hazardous to your feet if you wear them on a daily basis. Thus I switch to flats on hectic days and only wear 4 inch heels when I don't have a full day ahead.

ZARA makes such comfortable flats at affordable prices. Needless to say, all my Zara flats are now overly worn so my hunt for comfortable yet fabulously chic flats continues.

Went to Stella Luna a few weeks ago with my dear friend Verushkha and bought a pair of blue leather flats with a mirror buckle design... only to realize when I've worn them outside their carpeted store that the shoes are literally a KILLER. Only wore it for 2 hours and both backs of my feet were badly caloused. I have the scars to prove it. Ick.

And so the search is on. I am thinking Tory Burch but then I saw this pair of Maloles patent leather flats on Netaporter:

I may have found a winner! I just hope they're as comfy as they look!

Feeling Pale

This is what my sewers' rack looks like upstairs: pale. Felt like starting the new year with a cleaner, crisp-looking slate (fashion-wise that is). Simpler, more relatable classic pieces for this store I'm supplying to in Glorietta 5. I am actually loving the look as it is a new take for the detail-whore that I am. I am feeling all midnight and navy blue all of a sudden. What gives?

Also met up with Martin and Nicole in Glorietta yesterday for a quick gab and bite after my visit to the sub contractor. Also bought a copy of Sense & Style for my portfolio. Thank you Sense & Style for the "Transformer" feature on my dress (Haven't found the time to scan that yet)!

2. Is very particular about bathrooms when staying at a hotel/resort. Actually, I am particular about it everywhere. I'll hold it in if I have to.

5. Cannot eat like #4 in front of a guy I am really into and with whom I still have to watch myself around.

12. Throws a fit when awakened by someone yelling out my name. A simple nudge will suffice. I am the biggest bitch in the morning when my sleep has been rudely interrupted.

13. I am very impatient so I tend to rush things—not waiting long enough to see what might happen next and taking things into action before it is due.

14. Believes in signs.

15. Has the softest spot for cats and dogs.

16. Easily gets teary eyed with love stories—novels or movies. I guess I’m a girly girl.

17. Makes a good Nancy Drew.

18. Is on the weight gaining program at the gym and runs 4 kilometers every other day before core exercises.

19. Gets along with everyone--I am both a designer and the girl-next-door who plays DOTA with my guy pals in a computer shop til the wee hours.

20. Pretends to shoot jerk drivers when on the road.

21. Wish I could go to a white sand beach every weekend.

22. Would do anything for a pint of Ben & Jerry's (they just don't have it in this Third World country!)... SINCE I REALIZED THEY HAVE IT IN RUSTAN'S, I AM CHANGING MY #22 TO: Can finish a pint of Cookie Dough or Strawberry Shortcake in 15 minutes or less! :)

Gorged on comfort food as I turned a year older (but none the wiser) yesterday (January 30, Friday - MANILA time. Though I know it's only January 30 now in other parts of the globe). Twenty-freaking-five-years, man. And I can honestly say that 25 has been my best age so far, having realized many things about myself and even in my career.

This is the time to thank those who have been there for me through thick and thin. As well as those who have wronged me as I would not have been this much stronger sans the experience. Things always happen for a reason and I am a firm believer of the saying, "what does not kill you, only makes you stronger". As cliche as it sounds.

I will be spending the whole weekend chillaxing. No parties, excessive alcohol drinking whatsoever. I am spending the weekend with a few slices of Polly's oh-so-delicious chocolate cake and reflecting on thy self... and making it up to my ever-loving boyfriend for all the lost time. :)

Thank you to everyone who remembered and took the time to wish me a happy birthday. Also received some very very beautiful presents and I cannot help but feel blessed for having good friends who knows me inside out (especially those who gave me gorgeous under garments! Haha!) Sending out my love to y'all. :)

A Belated HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Because I've been busy with Christmas dinners and endless holiday lunches, it's only now that I get to blog and greet everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR! :-)

I can only wish for a few things this new year:

* For me to stop the major credit card swiping and shoe shopping frenzy to actually SAVE up for a rainy day (or a fabulous vacation out of the country).

* To find my "love" self again. I am just so fickle and unstable at this point, I want my old self back again.

* Quit my dirty little habits.

* That the world recession does not affect me much. :-)

I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday as I have! I am tired, tired, tired from all the Christmas shopping and the out of town trips. I shall be domesticated for the next few days to rest, rest, rest. :-)

Bratmates BORACAY Reunion

Last time I went out of town with my fashion school darlings was ages ago so you can imagine my excitement when Kriska texted me a few weeks ago asking if I'd like to go to Boracay for some much needed R & R. Luckily, Jia was in town and Choc was free so off we went to paradise...

There's really nothing like bonding with old friends...but next time I'm hoping the rest of the brats will be there!

The plan was simple: EAT, SLEEP and BE MERRY. In short, we lived like pigs for 3 days! Wanted to extend but we all had things to do over the weekend...so til next time bitches! :-) Missing everyone already!

Blogging From Boracay

I'm laying on a lounge chair in Mandarin as I type this. Feels great to be away from everything and everyone (except my 3 fashion school bratmates who are basking in the sun with me at the moment).

Leaving you was difficult. But it had to be done. It's not fair to be with someone when he only has half of your heart. When I've lost the fireworks and the passion--elements that keep a relationship alive.

Please let me find myself and pick up the pieces again. If in time, we really are meant to be then I'll find myself crawling back to you. Whether you accept me again or not, then at least I found myself.

Lessons in life are best learned the hard way anyway...

My blog has been on "idle" mode for a while now. The main reason being this:

Things went smoothly so I'm not complaining! My bitch Pam's wedding was a beautiful one and I cried and cried at the wedding! And then I ate and ate at the reception! Lavish it was and this couple definitely knows how to throw a par-tayyyy! It's a good thing I wore my flowing bias cut gown or my exploding tummy would have been evident after downing all those prawns!:

As promised, here are photos of my S/S 2009 Fashion Week collection (thanks to the talented TSARD CHUA!).

A collection aptly entitled "DREAM SPROUTS", I was inspired by my yo-yo circle placemat project back in 4th grade. It is a very girly collection embellished with dreamy circlettes and origami squares--all in pastels.

In life, we are all playing a game. At work. At school. With your friends. With the opposite sex. We all have a Chuck and Blair in all of us. Strategies differ but the goal is all the same: to WIN.

Other players are aggressive, some choose to be on the defensive side. Others like to wait it out, and go in for the kill when the prey is caught off-guard. Others pretend to be on the same team when they are actually double agents.

It's funny, these games people play. I find myself playing once more after ages of dormant existence in the ball game. Quite rusty but doing good I suppose. Being on the defensive side, I choose to act based on my opponent's next move. The upside being I am usually on the safe side, the downside being I am usually the impatient party if the opponent is taking too long to make a move. They say that offense is your best defense. I say I'm too chicken shit to find out.

So what's your next move cowboy?

I'm filled with tempting thoughts that I never thought existed at the back of my head. Fueling my confusion and adding to my impatience. Do I take the road on the left or the right? Should I stick to this road or make a turn towards a far more exciting route that I am absolutely unsure of?

He doesn't know what I'm talking about. Noone knows what I'm talking about. Because that's exactly it... a secret I cannot reveal, a nagging thought in my head that I try to forget about every single day.

Not that I owe anyone any explanation regarding my actions but I am writing this to put an end to all the questions and messages I've been getting.

NO, I didn't want to dig up skeletons and old issues because I want to get back at him. I wanted to know because I knew it was a friend and now I am right, it was a "friend". One who I trusted and confided to. One who also backstabbed me in unimaginable ways. Perhaps he was laughing inside while I cried and he even gave me advice. Advice that he was later going to use as ammunition against me.

I have already moved on career-wise. Whatever I lost, is lost. I just want to be more careful now. And that person can't harm me again.

Yes I agree with the person who told me that it is an issue that has closed months ago. It was the site that closed. But this to me is an issue of real friendship and it is only now that it has concluded in my part.

I do not wish to pick a fight with anyone. Not even him because what's the use. I believe in forgiveness and I can only wish him well.

This is the last time I will speak about this issue. Enough.

My sissy Martin called me earlier saying Mabuhay Girl blogged about Judy Aldridge in my Fashion Week A/W 2009 rust number. So I rushed back to the shop from the fabric store and voila!

Going Old Skool

It is already mid October and I haven't blogged anything yet. Blame it on my long working hours now that Philippine Fashion Week S/S 2009 is just around the corner. Would just like to share with you my inspiration: My 4th grade yo-yo circle placemat project.

Don't expect any placemats or furnishings from me anytime soon though. Tweaked in a few other ideas and vamped it up a bit for originality purposes. Runway photos to be posted at the end of October.

On the other hand I am beginning to get sick of the whole headband craze so I am finally keeping my appointment at Studio 546 for another hair rebond next week. Everyone is sporting a wavy or a short do these days and since mine is both wavy and a bit short, I'm doing the exact opposite. My love for the scarf however, will never end.

And I would also like to take this opportunity to curse whoever stole my yellow and black striped silk Jaigger scarf. HOW DARE YOU!

A Holiday For Everyone But Me

It's a holiday but I'm working overtime as always. Woke up at 6:30 am to hit the gym and grab some healthy grub before I finally headed to the atelier. Today, I'm taking my bitchmate Pam and her entourage's measurements (they should be arriving any moment now). While waiting, I've been contemplating whether or not to join the next fashion week which is in October. I clearly am behind schedule If I do join and I think I have ran out of creative juices. So clueless at this point. I should take my tired arse to the beach but there's no time. I have back to back meetings after this.

Love Is In the Air

Been seeing diamond/s set on white gold (or titanium) on a lot of my girlfriend's fingers these days, thus affirming my belief that (true) love is in the air.

I was onto my 4th engagement party for the month of August when I realized how much my social calendar has changed. When I was 17 or 18, it was about debuts and proms. At 21 and 22, I went to friends' college graduations. Now at 25, it's all about engagement parties, weddings, christenings and kids' birthdays. Wat's next, kids' graduations? I am officially old.

Today is a Sunday and I had just spent the whole day watching DVDs and having dinner with the family. And I can't help but realize that everyone around me is building families of their own now as well. It's elating, knowing that my long time friends and I have been there for eachother through it all and I will still be a part of another chapter in their lives. Someday I too will tie the knot but right now I can only be happy for my girls who are lucky enough to find true love in this crazy world. It makes me realize miracles still do come true. I found mine and will someday follow their steps. But until then I'll be here cheering you on from the bleachers, ready to support you in your new life ahead.

Congratulations to all my engaged (and newly wed) chicas. You know who you are. :-)

Flicks That Make Me Crave...

Unbeknownst to some, I am quite gluttonic. Back in my younger days in JASMS, I had the appetite of a teenage boy. I would down a plate of sizzling beef with rice and veggies for the 10 AM snack time followed by a lunch of either a Big Mac meal or menudo and rice from the cafeteria. Dessert would be ice cream and a bag of Doritos then after school and soccer practice, I'd be in Mcdonald's again with my teammates having either a cheeseburger meal and a sundae or 1-piece chicken (thigh part) with extra rice. If you think that's enough food for one day, think again. Our old helper cooked so well that I'd usually have a late dinner at home too. Rice again of course. Carbs, carbs, carbs. Now at 25, I luckily still get to wear my Levi's from my junior year in highschool although I'm no longer in the soccer team so now I have the gym.

One of the things I can never suppress is my love for food. I easily get swayed by glossy features, commercials and most especially, movies. I used to always have Lucky Me pancit canton in the house because whenever Edu and Lucky's commercial went on air, I'd start craving it. Whenever I'm reading Preview, I make sure to check out Dish's featured restaurant of the month and show my boyfriend the scrumptious looking photos so he'd get urged to go there on our next date too. Being the movie buff that I am, I usually take note of what the actors are eating and how they indulge in it. The more convinced I am that it's good, the more I crave it. Forget that I just ate or that it's late. And when I crave for something, I gotta have it or I can't sleep at all. Worse, it's usually junk food! It's crazy really. I do realize though that I am not getting any younger so I need to eat healthier now.

Anyway, I have compiled a short list of films that make me crave the unhealthy stuff. Hopefully it's also making someone hungry out there. LOL. :-)

MOVIE: WHITE CHICKS
SCENE: When Marcus Copeland (Marlon Wayans) goes on a date with Latrell Spencer (Terry Crews) at Bella and he disgustingly gorges on ribs, steaks and onion rings, among other fatty fatty yummy things.
FOOD CRAVING: Chili's baby back ribs

MOVIE: FOOLS RUSH IN
SCENE: The Grand Canyon scene where Isabel (Selma Hayek) surprises him on his birthday.
FOOD CRAVING: Gray's Papaya hotdogs! But since we don't have it here, Ogie Doggie hotdogs will do. :-)

MOVIE: HOLIDAY
SCENE: When Miles (Jack Black) and Iris Simpkins (Kate Winslet) has lunch at a Japanese restaurant, she never really got to eat her spicy tuna roll but for some odd reason it made me want one too (plus some California Maki).

SCENE: When Ranger Roland Sharp (Tommy Lee Jones) gets takeout (all meat) pizza while the skinny cheerleaders have salad for dinner.

MOVIE: YOU'VE GOT MAIL
SCENE: Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan) and Birdie Conrad (Jean Stapleton) grab sandwiches for lunch.

Say it isn't so! Been reading about it and the news has been spreading like wild fire among Gossip Girl fans in Manila. I hope it's not true because seriously, most of those who watch local channels here can't really relate to the whole Upper East Sider mumbo jumbo. We don't even have such an area (Makati doesn't even qualify) and it would be hilarious if they call it "Forbes Parkers" or "Global City People" or something as ridiculous. Besides, I wonder what the fashion will be like?! My oh my, what a dreadful thought.

I say let's just stick to the Dyesebels, Tiyanaks and Marimars. Pinoy Idol is flop enough, let's not copy another successful American TV show yes?

THRILLED

Today has been full of lovely surprises. It all started after brunch with one of my bestmates, Chere, who took me on a short trip to the secret store where I was amused beyond my wits. *winks at Chere* . Chere always knows how to make my day and now I have to thank her again for helping cure my hangover. LMAO.

Then it was followed by an unexpected email that has absolutely made my week. Updates to follow. I just feel so blessed right now. The world has revealed new doors opening for me.

In the meantime I'm packing my overnight bag for a long road trip to Baguio with the family tomorrow night. Cousins from London flew in a week ago and are currently in their compound in Baguio. The Manila chapter of the Villa clan will be following tomorrow night as we all need to get together for our late grandma's birthday on Sunday. I am so relieved I won't be staying in our lola's haunted house but at the same time bothered at how cold it is in the province right now. I should have bought those Uggs after all!

In fairness the sewing is excellent. :-) If the jacket was worn here, it would scream varsity whereas with them it's quirky cool. Much like the Malaysian costume I'm wearing on the photo below which I got from an international bazaar at the PICC last December. The Malaysian consul who sold it to me said it's a costume of some sort but to me it looks luxe and perfect for lounging. :-)

Back to Reality

I'm back in the city and I have to drag my ass around because I was gone for 2 working days and I am still feeling very lazy!! My sewers seemed relieved to see me back though (I wonder if that's a good or a bad thing). Anyway, yours truly had to do a bazillion errands right away and the traffic welcomed me with arms wide open as if to mock my return from my brief getaway. Hate it.

My work week ended today with a 5pm--errrr, 5:30pm because I came late due to heavy traffic. Why does Quezon City have to be so far from Taguig?!--meeting with the ladies (and man) of ALMOST FAMOUS. It is a fabulous, fabulous high end store that's about to open in Bonifacio Highstreet. So excited! Launching details to be posted soon. Watch out shopaholics! :-)

And so the weekend is back again but unlike everyone else, I actually have to work (way too many sketches to finish. Boo!). Partying is now reserved on week nights with my highschool pals (the Saturday night crowd makes us feel like senior citizens) as well as my movie dates with my boyfriend so that leaves me with working weekends. I am officially a weirdo.

Where the water is clean and clear and the sand is fine (naturally, not faux Boaracay)...

Where I can snorkel and swim and then come home to this...

There's no other place like FLUSHING MEADOWS in Panglao... It was definitely love at first visit. I'm definitely going back. Until then, there are always closer destinations for weekends...

So this weekend, I'm off to Fuego with a couple of bitchmates. I need some R & R...

My Genie To A Healthy & Glowing Skin

Today was all about errands and more work-related stress. I decided to hit the gym and run on the treadmill for a little bit before my next and final appointment of the day: DRA. JEAN MARQUEZ of SKIN SPECIALIST.

Dr. Jean is one of my fabulous clients (my first dermatologist client actually), and for the past 2 years or so, her clinic--which is conveniently only about 10-20 minutes away from my place--has been my go-to whenever I'm breaking out. The last few weeks have been sleepless, event-filled and well, stressful. Lots of late nights and parties that require gunks of makeup that clog the pores and irritate the skin. Needless to say I have been depriving my skin of its much needed monthly treatment that I finally decided to keep my appointment and make peace with it.

Everyone at Skin Specialist is well-trained. It's the only place where my zits get pricked and zapped and it doesn't even hurt (coming from someone whose pain tolerance is so low). I wonder if Dra. Jean weights their hands upon application to make sure everyone in her staff has a touch that's as light as a feather. Their new rejuvenating mask is so divine, I almost dozed off. I came home happy and totally relaxed, although a teeny bit red from all the pricking.

Today is officially the most stressful day of the week. Spent the whole day in the atelier, helping sew buttons and watching over the sewers. One of my best pals' wedding is on Saturday and a few gowns were still being altered today. Sometimes my darling master cutter becomes a total schezophrenic and turns into a major witch. The bitch is menopausal so I guess that should explain it. Anyway, the entourage will get their gowns tomorrow.

I miss those lazy days when I would sit in front of the TV for hours and alternate watching sappy old Tagalog flicks on Cinema One and good english movies on HBO. Those were times of total peace, carelessness and relaxation. I only get to treat myself to that every once in a while now. Gawd I hate adulthood.

So this is me signing off. I'm off to bed now. Wish tomorrow will be a better day. My migrane is getting worse by the minute.

Partied it up at Rockwell Tent last night for the annual Preview Best Dressed Ball. It's mad fun hanging with my sisters again. It's been a week since I last saw them and y'all know that's already a long time for us! I especially missed Regine Dulay--finally came out of the house and put her scissors and sewing machine aside to spend time with her sistassss. :-) Missed Jerome Lorico too, who was missing in action last week!

Special mention goes to my darling Eric. My sister in crime and other boyfriend. I was his muse yesterday (for a change), so no Czarina Villa couture for me this time around! Pretty, pretty dress! Welcome back from Ilo-ilo! You know we missed you!

I'm back to my normal self again. Back to blogging, back to posting random things in my head. And this time there won't be anyone reading it in the hopes of finding something to twist and turn into gossip-worthy stories for their awful website. Come to think of it, why did I delete my blog before anyway? Other than the fact that I was advised by a fellow designer friend to do so, I just wanted to make it all stop. Being called things I am definitely not is very hurtful. And I am not one who takes trashing quite easily. I am being accused of things I did not do and some facts were even tampered with just for the sake of having a story. Gone are the teary-eyed days and now is the start of a new beginning.

All the pain I went through a few weeks ago has taught me a lot. I saw the fine line between real and faux. There are those who are so quick to judge without even hearing your side and then I have my family and friends--who despite all the trashing and accusations--know the truth and stick with me through thick and thin. I'm telling you, trying to spot a real friend is harder than spotting a fake quadruple A Louis Vuitton bag on Ebay. I may have missed a few opportunities because of a rumor or two but it's time to move on. Let the bitches think whatever they want to think, I can't control what goes on in everyone's mind.
